Ocean Zoning in GOOD

Over the ages people have loved to fantasize about, explore, and tame the wild parts of our Earth. We have run all over most of the continents, so this has brought many people to say that the oceans are the last frontier. Well per human standard we cannot allow that to happen anymore for a number reasons, many of them political. It's nice to see that Obama has his administration working on this. GOOD did a short article explaining the importance of 'resource management' in the world's oceans.

This issue is of particular concern for a scientist like myself primarily because communication about zoning of the ocean must include discussion of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and other zonation strategies that will aim to maintain a healthy ocean.

President Obama went on vacation a while ago. While enjoying himself with his family, pres paparazzi were able to snap this shot

of him and his family. I think it's interesting that he chose not to protect the thinking cap of the nation (though it doesn't look like it was a very high traffic/dangerous area). but at least his kids chose to go for that safe look.

also for your viewing pleasure, this is me being a bit of a camwhore in (some of) my safe biking apparel. BE SAFE! wear a helmet!!

Public trans. don't hate!

woah. It's time to post something. Picture! In urban settings there is a high premium to pay for SPACE USAGE. It's pretty indisputable that parking in the city is a biiiiiitch. even if you live in an area where spots are usually available, street cleaning is a hazard, and of course you've always got to make sure your wheels are pointed the correct direction to avoid getting ticketed.

Here is an intriguing visual demonstration of the amount of space it takes store transportation for the same number of people using three different options. thus making saving space one more reason to RIDE A BIKE or USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.
