Thanks to a recent article in Treehugger I was tipped off to the collection of beauty held in the "Top 40 Nature photographs" collection that was assemble to commemorate this year's Earth Day.
for some reason I have not been able to post photos in my recent blogs... hm. you'll just have to check out the links and see for yourself. So many of the photos are so surreal that they look fake, but we are reminded that yes, life really is that beautiful.
one girl's journey towards sustainability, having a life, and enjoying it. oh and cats.

Lifespans
Today I happened upon an interesting site that contains data from studies concerned with the lifespan of everyday objects. (LINK) It is supported by the National Institute for Environmental Studies in Japan. Searchable results make for easy use.
I was pleased to find that a bicycle has an estimated lifespan of 14.7 years (Mine has already long surpassed that! I estimate it's a 1989 model Miyata) Rice cookers usually last about 8 years, cell phones 4. An interesting thing is that the results of these surveys allow you to estimate what you may expect from an object, but also allows you to treasure your appliances that are holding up well after there life expectancy even more!
