this is about me

my friday-

rule# 1 remember to take off sweatshirt before biking.
rule # 2 remember to take off glasses before removing sweatshirt.

so i was feeling very hot after riding down from campus and i was locking up my bike on the street before i got my hair cut. then this totally absolutely normal guy walks by and he's listening to an ipod. as he walks by he's singing audibly and with a degree of confidence in his voice but averting his eyes, "womanizer woman womanizer you're a womanizer."

i at once respected this dude for standing by britney in public and was just tickled that i had observed this moment. hehe

my today-

i prepared myself for the Global Oceans Gala alllll day. i enjoyed some contact with friends during the day. but pretty much all day was getting ready. i enjoyed it. i bought the most fantastic shoes for the event. pictures to come for sure.
oh i'll start from the top. i have been so lucky to have this undergraduate research experience. it has been the most valuable experience of my education. I am learning so much, getting so much practical experience, and I am working with some really great people. so yes let's keep on track to the point. i have been given so many great opportunities through this work and i ended up winning a grant and not only winning but getting top prize. now this is largely due to the fact that i'm interested in this really neat method that is new and super fancy cool and so people wanted to see it funded. Because I won the top prize i was asked to attend this global oceans gala that the friends of the long marine lab (LML) (LML is a fantastic lab/branch of our school that is right by the ocean (picture at the bottom of this page http://www2.ucsc.edu/seymourcenter/contact.html) had me speak to the donors at a super fancy dinner. so i was super nervous but i spoke and i believe i did well. the food was fantastic (five course dinner with some very fine wines!) and afterwards board members and donors alike came over to let me know that they enjoyed my talk. i would never have thought that such a successful public speaker could be me.

and, a very nice gentleman came over to inform me that if i was interested in getting a job this summer then I should certainly contact him. He works for THIS http://www.calera.biz/ company. hot damn would i like to help sequester carbon dioxide.

wow i do not think i will post this openly often but i am feeling so excited that i felt the need to write it all!
