This week's song is a relic from the nineties. It is one I have found people a year or two younger than me don't care about this band but was part of an obsession for many people in their mid twenties now. It is Weezer's 'Only in Dreams.'
now for a little sidenote- the purpose of this section is to introduce readers to music that they may not have have been exposed to yet. my opinion is by no means professional, or even very researched, it is just the one of a sort of hip young girl with her ears perked up. so when i tell you that i think that only in dreams is the height of rock in the 90s well i may not know shit about rock in the nineties but as far as my exposure goes (living in the 90s) that is my opinion.
So a friend of mine and i had an argument one night about which was better, Bright Eyes's "A Perfect Sonnet" or this song. I would say that this song is a gem because this song contains the most passionate solo i have ever heard. It is the definition of epic. And while the perfect sonnet has a perfect form and equal emotion it does not compare to the simple longing that Rivers expresses in this song of an unrequited love that we can all relate to. have lamented over, and just never gotten.
oops. hard drive incapacitated at the moment. check back later for DL.
